Campervan travel in Holy Cross

Świętokrzyskie (Holy Cross Region) is one of Poland's smallest but also most mystical regions — the Świętokrzyskie Mountains are the oldest in Europe, the Holy Cross National Park features Mt. Łysica (612 m a.s.l.) and characteristic scree slopes (gołoborze). Kielce is a good gateway, and Sandomierz — a Gothic-Renaissance masterpiece on a Vistula escarpment — is a must-see campervan stop. Bałtów with its Jurapark (dinosaurs) and zoo, Chęciny with its royal castle ruins and Kazimierz Dolny (technically in Lublin region but ”across the Vistula”) are popular family attractions. Campervan infrastructure is modest but sufficient: a dozen-plus campsites and camper parkings, with LPG stations spread along DK7, DK74 and DK9. Prices are attractive — 50–100 PLN per night at a campsite, 40–70 PLN at a camper parking. Świętokrzyskie is noticeably less busy than Lesser Poland or Masuria — you'll find quiet, regional cuisine (sernik with raisins, Świętokrzyska śliwowica) and unique flora. The weekend route Kielce – Święty Krzyż – Nowa Słupia – Sandomierz – Bałtów is a proven 3-day campervan itinerary.

Where can I park a campervan in Sandomierz?

Not inside the National Park. On the fringes, in state forests, the ”Sleep in the forest” programme designates specific areas. We recommend campsites around Bodzentyn and Nowa Słupia.
