Campervan travel in Subcarpathia

Subcarpathia is the wild Polish east — the Bieszczady Mountains, Beskid Niski, Przemyśl Foothills and the Solina reservoir. For campervan travellers it is one of Poland's most genuinely off-grid experiences: empty roads, the starry sky of the Bieszczady Dark-Sky Park, wolves, bears and bison in park buffer zones, and Solina itself — Poland's largest reservoir — with campsites along every kilometre of shoreline. Bieszczady National Park and Magura NP are accessible from trails leaving directly from surrounding campsites. Rzeszów (the capital), Przemyśl (on the Ukrainian border with its fortress tunnels), Sanok (open-air folk museum and Historical Museum) and Łańcut Castle are the cultural highlights. Campsites are mostly open from May to October (a few run year-round) with rates of 60–110 PLN per night in season. Subcarpathia is also a regional-cuisine paradise — proziaki, fuczki, hrubieszowskie gołąbki and Bieszczady nalewki. For remote workers, LTE coverage is patchy in the mountains, but stable internet is available at most campsites in Ustrzyki Dolne, Lesko and Sanok.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions — Subcarpathia

How much does a campsite cost in the Bieszczady?

Bieszczady campsites (Polańczyk, Solina, Ustrzyki) cost 60–110 PLN per night in summer. Camper parkings without full infrastructure — 40–70 PLN. Off-season (May, September) — 50–80 PLN. It is one of Poland's cheaper campervan regions.

Can I wild-camp with a campervan in the Bieszczady?

Not inside Bieszczady National Park or its buffer zone. Outside the park, the Lasy Państwowe ”Sleep in the forest” programme designates specific areas (free, max 2 nights). We recommend the Solina and Ustrzyki campsites — safer and with full cassette dump infrastructure.

When is the best time for a Bieszczady campervan trip?

June to September is the sweet spot. July–August — warmest water at Solina but more tourists. September–October — spectacular autumn in the Beskid Niski, few people, low campsite prices. Winter is possible but only for experienced campervanners (narrow snowy roads).

Which are the best campsites on Solina lake?

Polańczyk, Solina, Myczków and Wołkowyja — all with direct water access, 230V hook-ups, cassette dump and often in-price sauna, spa and kayak rental. Book ahead for July and August.

Where are the dump stations in Subcarpathia?

Cassette dump stations are available at campsites in Polańczyk, Solina, Ustrzyki, Lesko and Sanok. On the A4 motorway (Rzeszów–Jarosław–Korczowa) — at selected service areas. Full list on the map with the ”dump station” filter.
