Lubelskie is eastern Poland — Lublin (with its castle and an UNESCO-candidate Old Town), Kazimierz Dolny (a picturesque town on the Vistula, known as the ”capital of Polish artists”), Nałęczów (a spa town), Zamość (”pearl of the Renaissance”, UNESCO) and Roztocze National Park. Polesie (with Poleski NP) is wild wetland and lakes — a paradise for birdwatchers. The Łęczna-Włodawa Lakeland offers a lower-cost, less-crowded alternative to Masuria. Campsites in Lublin region cluster around Kazimierz Dolny, Zamość and the Polesie lakes. Rates: 60–100 PLN per night in season, 40–70 PLN off-season. The region is less crowded than western and central Poland — in August you can find campsite space without a reservation. Food: cebularz (onion flatbread), pierogi, sourdough żurek. History: the Majdanek and Bełżec camps (crucial Holocaust memorial sites), Kozłówka with the Zamoyski palace, Puławy and Wąwolnica. Recent years have brought a boom in new campsites — the region is slowly investing in campervan infrastructure. The weekend route Lublin – Kazimierz Dolny – Nałęczów – Zamość is a solid 3-day campervan trip.
