Mikołajki is the sailing capital of Masuria and one of Poland's most camper-friendly destinations. A town of just 4,000 residents, in summer (June–September) it buzzes with life — sailboats on Lake Mikołajskie, cruises over Lake Śniardwy (Poland's largest), the Masurian Sea of Great Lakes. The iconic choice is Camping Wagabunda — a classic lakeside site, a 10-minute walk from the market square, with full amenities. Around town you'll also find Parking & Camper Park, Między Wodami, Kurka Wodna camping and over a dozen other sites. Mikołajki is an ideal base for sailing, kayaking, kitesurfing, hikes through the Masurian Landscape Park and trips to Święta Lipka (Baroque sanctuary, 20 km). From here head to the Wolf's Lair in Gierłoż (50 km), the Great Masurian Lakes (Śniardwy, Niegocin, Mamry) and on to Giżycko. Mikołajki has no Clean Transport Zone — your camper can go anywhere. Note: at peak (July–August) campsites fill up, so book ahead. Off-season the town is practically empty with a completely different, magical feel.
