Krakow is the former capital of Poland and one of the most recognizable cities in Europe. With a population reaching 800,000 residents, it offers an unmatched blend of history, culture, and nightlife. Wawel Castle, Main Market Square, Kazimierz district, Wieliczka Salt Mine β the list of attractions is long. Balice International Airport makes Krakow one of the most popular arrival points for tourists visiting Poland. It is an ideal starting point for a campervan trip through mountainous and southern Poland.
Our base is Szczecinek (600 km, about 6 hours' drive via A1 and S7 motorways), but for an additional fee we will deliver the MAN TGE campervan directly to Krakow β to Balice Airport, your hotel, or any other address. Call +48 666 607 545 to arrange transport pricing and delivery timing. Due to the greater distance, consider a longer rental which reduces the daily cost.
From Krakow, routes open to the Tatra Mountains (about 100 km to Zakopane), Pieniny with the Dunajec River Gorge, Beskidy and Bieszczady Mountains. Westward you can head to the Klodzko Valley and on to the Czech Republic. Northward await Kielce, Swietokrzyskie region, and the Krakow-Czestochowa Upland with castles perched on limestone rocks. The terrain around Krakow is varied β from flat plains to mountain switchbacks where the campervan with AT tyres proves its worth.

Practical tips for campervan travel from Krakow
Parking a campervan in Krakow is challenging β the strict city centre is a restricted traffic zone. We recommend P&R car parks at tram loops (e.g., Czerwone Maki, Krowodrza Gorka) β they are free and well-connected to the centre. Camping Clepardia on the outskirts offers full campervan facilities. Towards Ojcow (15 km), you will find quiet agritourism farms that welcome campervans.
The best season for campervan travel from Krakow is May through October. For the Tatras and mountains, go in summer (June-September) β mountain passes are open and weather favours hiking. Autumn (September-October) is golden time for the Upland and Bieszczady β fall colours and no crowds. Winter in the mountains is beautiful, but many roads are closed to larger vehicles.
Practical tip: before heading to the mountains, check the weather forecast and road conditions β the Tatras can surprise even in summer. LPG stations are available on the Krakow bypass and along the A4 and S7 motorways. Before a longer trip, stock up at Makro or Auchan on the outskirts. In the mountains, stations are scarcer β a full tank and water supply are essential.
